Balance Today for a Greener Tomorrow
Date:Wednesday, September 9, 2009
Time: 5:30pm - 6:30pm Social Hour; 6:30 - 8:00pm Meeting
Location: NCSU - McKimmon Center
Cost: $30.00 (Cash or Check Only)
Presentation: 2009-2010 ASHRAE Society President Gordon Holness has made a call to ASHRAE membership to start thinking about our existing buildings. There are way too many inefficient buildings existing today. In fact, if every new building going forward were designed as net zero, we would still only impact 15% of the building marketplace by the year 2030. So, what do we need to do? In this presentation, we will learn about flow balancing methods that can help existing buildings perform better and thus save the owner money. We will learn about flow balance and impeller trimming methods that are required by the North Carolina energy code. We will also review the balancing products that are in the marketplace and discuss the application differences in these products. Some of the devices covered will be circuit setters, automatic flow devices, and pressure independent flow devices.
Speaker: Chris Edmondson: Chris serves as President of James M. Pleasants Company, Inc. He is a 1967 graduate of North Carolina State University where he received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Chris has over forty years of experience in our industry, specializing in fluid handling systems and products. He has served many years in the ASHRAE organization, holding positions like North Peidmont Chapter Secretary, North Peidmont Chapter President, and Region IV Director & Regional Chair.
